A Virtual Cruise along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal
The Leeds and Liverpool Canal runs for 127 miles, making it the longest canal in Northern England.
Unlike the other trans-Pennine canals, the Leeds and Liverpool Canal was never abandoned, remaining open for navigation throughout the last century.

Sit back and enjoy this virtual tour of the canal. It will give you a flavour of the scenery and the canal architecture the canal offers. The "cruise" is arranged in sections. It runs from east to west, but includes views of the canal looking in either direction. Pictures of the Leigh Branch will be added in 2004.

The quality of each image has been kept moderately low to enable the pages to load reasonably quickly, although it may take up to 30 seconds for all the pictures on a page to load. If you enjoy the "cruise" you may also like to take a virtual cruise along the Huddersfield, Rochdale or Peak Forest Canals.
