Looking back to Longlees Lock from the summit pound. Bleak scenery surrounds the summit pound of the canal, which broadens out and occupies the floor of the high valley between the heads of the River Calder and River Roch. The Leeds to Manchester railway runs through its summit tunnel nearby at a lower level than the canal summit.
