At the top of the Salterhebble locks, this branch heads towards Halifax.

The branch canal once climbed all the way to Halifax, to a basin behind the railway station. Now, the branch only runs a third of a mile to The Quays at Exley.

Back to Salterhebble junction. The canal from Brighouse emerges from the Salterhebble Locks on the right through the railway bridge. The branch towards Halifax runs under the road bridge. The canal towards Sowerby Bridge is behind the viewer.

As the canal passes through Copley the banks are thickly wooded.

The railway viaduct just west of Copley.

Looking along the last mile towards Sowerby Bridge, near Long Wood.
