The Bridgewater Canal leads off from Castlefield Junction to the west.

The Bridgewater Canal continues forward for three miles to a junction at Trafford Park, near Stretford, where one branch leads to Worsley and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal while the other branch leads to Runcorn and the Trent and Mersey Canal.
