Looking back to Castleford Junction from the arm to Leeds. The entrance to the Flood Lock is to the left. The arm to Wakefield is off to the right.
Shan House Bridge, near Mickletown. This is the new course of the River Aire constructed after the breach which flooded a nearby open-cast mine.
Approaching the 13' 6" deep Lemonroyd Lock. The channel on the right leads to the weir. This lock replaced the original Lemonroyd Lock and the former Kippax Lock when the new course of the river was constructed.
